How to get GPO4 working with Sibelius 6 in just a few steps

Tutorial: Using GPO 4 with Sibelius 6.1

You can get GPO 4 working with Sibelius 6 in just a few steps:

1) Once you download the GPO 4 software, save your keycard file to your desktop. Then, once the Aria player is
opened, drag and drop your saved keycard into the program to activate the product. If you need more help with this,
there's a very informative video up at http://www.garritan.com/instructions.html that walks you through the process.

2) Open Sibelius 6. Make sure you have upgraded Sibelius 6 to 6.1 because this version has fixes and tweaks that
make it work better with GPO4's new Aria Player. You can find this upgrade at
http://www.sibelius.com/helpcenter/upgrades.html or by clicking in Sibelius Help > Check for Updates

3) Now that everything is up to date, click Play > Playback Devices. In the left hand list of Playback Devices, you
should now see Aria Player (Multi) and Aria Player. If you see these options, skip to step 5. If not, read on!

4) Once the Playback Devices window is up click on the Audio Engine Options button on the bottom right of the
screen. Once the Audio Engine Options window is up it should look like the picture below:

4.1) Take note of the Virtual Instruments and Effects folder.
4.2) Copy the vst files found in c:\Program Files\Garritan\ARIA Player\VST\ and paste them into whatever
folder was listed in 4.1
4.3) Restart Sibelius (or click the "rescan" button in the Audio Engine Options window) and both Aria Player
(Multi) and Aria Player should be listed in the Playback Devices window.

5) In the Playback Devices window click the "new" button to create a new playback device. A playback device is a
setting that tells Sibelius exactly what sounds you want it to use. You can have as many of these playback devices as
you want so don't worry about making too many new playback device settings. After selecting "new", Sibelius asks you
to name the new Playback Device. I named mine "GPO Aria". In the left hand pane of the Playback Devices window
select Aria Player and then click on Activate. You should now see it listed on the right hand pane. Your screen should
now look like this:

6) Now when you create a new score or work in an existing score Sibelius will playback all the sounds using GPO4's
new Aria Player. Should you need to change any of the sounds or access the actual Aria Player, select Window >
Mixer (or shortcut ctrl+alt+m). The Mixer window should now pop up. If you need to change the sounds or play around
with any of the settings, click the starry circle button next to where it says ARIA Player in the Mixer window and the Aria
Player will open in a new window. The picture below shows these two windows. I placed the mouse pointer over the
starry circle in the Mixer window on the left hand side should you need help finding it; the Aria Player is opened on the
right hand side of this picture for reference.

7) If you want to change the sound that is being used, just click on the name of that sound in the Aria Player and new
sounds should be able to be accessed from the menu that drops down. You can also change other settings by
playing with the Pan knob, or by accessing the Mixer, Controls, Effects and Settings menus by clicking the appropriate
button on the right hand side of the Aria Player screen.

That should do it! Everything else is automated in Sibelius 6.1 so there is no need to type in secret midi codes or
anything! Hope this tutorial helped and gets you started using GPO4 in Sibelius.

Best of luck,
